The book is found in the book of Numbers, the fourth book of the Bible. It is a very ancient text that dates from the time before the Babylonian exile in 587 BCE. It is the only blessing God imparted on his people. Although it was not frequently used outside the Jewish tradition, Francis of Assisi was well acquainted with it.
