This book deals with the concept of the folly of the cross preached by St. Paul to the Corinthians. It offers a detailed examination of the Pauline understanding of folly and wisdom in relation to the people of God both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Its findings about the motive of divine folly are twofold: the first a negative one, that nobady should boast of his wisdom or self-sufficiency in this world; the second a positive one, that everybody should place his absolute confidence in God’s power and love in order to be saved The quintessence of the whole book is God’s extreme love for man.
